Recently, the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) launched its Charter for Sustainable Cleaning, a voluntary initiative of the cleaning products industry to promote and demonstrate continual improvement in the industry’s sustainability profile. GOJO is proud to be an ACI member company that meets the requirements of this Charter.
Since ACI first shared its sustainability principles, we saw a strong alignment with the GOJO approach to sustainability – a focus on all three sustainability domains, with an emphasis on health and well-being. We saw value in joining this initiative because this designation goes beyond products to recognize a company’s comprehensive commitment to sustainability and the execution of that commitment through its practices, including:
- Raw Material and Packaging Selection
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Manufacturing Environmental Management
- Internal Target Setting
- Finished Product Safety Evaluation
GOJO met many of the Essential Sustainability Procedures and Activities (SPAs) because some were longstanding business practices for us; however, others were embedded as a result of being a Purpose-driven company that is committed to going beyond reducing environmental impacts to having a positive impact through product innovation, partnerships and daily work practices.
Not only have we lead the industry in sustainable product innovation with the world’s largest portfolio of green certified hand hygiene, shampoo and body wash products, we continue to incorporate sustainability into everything we do through what we call Sustainable Ways of Working (SWOW℠). We see the ACI Charter as an opportunity to collaborate with others across the industry and share our SWOW approach, results and focus on continuous improvement to advance sustainable practices and solutions.
