The challenges posed by antibiotic resistance are ever-present. Earlier this year, we pledged our commitment to antibiotic stewardship at the White House Forum on Antibiotic Stewardship. During the course of this year and beyond, we will share with you information that demonstrates why there is a need for antibiotic stewardship to ensure the responsible use of antibiotics in the United States.
Today, we share with you a TED talk from March 2015 in which Maryn McKenna looks to answer the question – what do we do when antibiotics don’t work anymore? In this talk, McKenna discusses how antibiotic usage is a habit, as well as the impact antibiotics have had and how we can overcome the challenges that emerge from the continued misuse of antibiotics.
